Post by: gazman1011 on 26 August 2010, 21:45
just thought id see if it would be cost affective to take my car to a garage and get the car engine stripped, cleaned and rebuitd and new parts along the way? i have a mk3 gti 16v with 189k on clock, what u think, how much would it set me back?

it cost me £400 on an 8v i know what you guys will say, but i had to get it done, had no car to get to work so needed one, that inc labout think engine rebuild was just over £200 rest was labour costs. what condition is the car in? if in mint and you want to keep car then go for it, is it an ABF? everyone likes ABf on here so just wait for mroe replies. lol

well its entirely up to you. id ask around. but if you do rebuild it, then get it skimmed as it will lower the comp ratio? i think thats what it is. get it bored out to (top & bottom end). will increase your bhp. thats all i can advise you. hope that leads you somewhere
