Post by: jonnygti66 on 24 August 2010, 14:29
hi, i just thought i`d post a few pics of the golf since ive started sorting it, im just starting to sort out the engine breathing, with a carbon fibre viper sealed pipercross ram air filter, but will also sort my standard diesel box too in case the viper isnt as good,im ready to lower it 40-50mm?have just bought white faces for the dials ,just waiting on the led bulbs so i can do it all together. i want to also fit a vento front and take away the plastics from the arches then fit new 16"bbs alloys, so if anyone has any parts listed please pm me.(http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac320/jonnygsi66/golfgtinew018.jpg)

I have a VR and yeah i think they are underpowered and over rated!! But i'm only 21 so it's plenty power for me! Having a BMC CDA Induction Kit, Jetex Decat pipe and a cat back SS Scorpion system sure helps the sound!

The other golf, with the Audi A3 rims..... quick question - What centre caps are on them rims?? standard audi ones?? I have the same rims on my gti but want some centre caps.... VW preffered... but they dont seem to fit very well.... Also are them audi rims running with spacers?? let me know.

yes mate, theyre audi centre caps, the alloys are running with 5mm spacers as the inner tyres were catching on the suspension and the bodywork had been worn away on the front of the rear arches but thats probably caused by the 55profile tyres tbh. nice alloys though

Very nice :afro: will look loads better lowered.

The other car is running tyres that are too big, 205/45/16 is the correct size.  :nerd:

i know wayne, at the moment theyre new tyres that were on when he bought the car, so hes gonna get some wear out of them, then change them for the correct size, as for mine, im just deciding on either coil overs or springs prob just a 40mm drop, not sure. do you know much about these redhot tuning coilovers? or are they too cheap to be any good? im doing the golf on a budget for now but dont want to change unless im going to see a difference in handling. and thanks for the compliment dude

do a search on Hot Tuning mate, loads of threads on it... very mixed views... they are cheap and cheerful.. some people say that are bouncy as fook and other say they are very harsh, pesonally i think they are not very well developed so it deponds on the car.  My mk1 being quite light my first impression is that they seem ok and very stiff but i am yet to take it for a proper drive.  if you just want to go down about 40mm i suggest you get a decent set of shocks and springs... depends what you're after overall..

the wheels arnt staying mate, next year i`ll be getting some nice bbs splits tbh, i think they`d go with the colour too if i drop it enough, but im not too keen on the plastic arches so they`l be done too lol
