Title: Do these Insurance prices sound right?
Post by: parker278 on 24 August 2010, 13:28
I am a 21 year old with 3 years no claims driving a 53 plate Golf GT TDI 150PD.
Looking to get it modded a fair bit over the next year so thought i would add the mods onto the policy now.
Will have the following:
Stage 1 Remap upto 190BHP, Coilovers, Anni Body kit, 312mm front breaks and Rear Anti-roll bar.

Have phoned a few insurers, adrain flux, sky insurance and they have come back with prices of about £1500-£1800!

I can get this down to £900 through Bell, although they said they would not cover me for business use

£1800 make my wallet cringe and cry, is this an about right price?
Anyone recoomend any other insurers?

Location may be a factor too.
Try Greenlight and brentacre or limit yourself to 3 mods (I think) and try elephant

I'm surprised bell will cover you on more than 3 mods (and with the remap!). I've been with them 4 years now (with business cover), they've been the cheapest around every year.

As you say, Flux/HIC/Brentacre just come back with stupid quotes year after year (specialist my ass), £400 fully comp, mods declared (and covered) with Bell, £700 3rd party with Flux :(
