Title: Rattle on start up. SAP running
Post by: Big Tone on 24 August 2010, 13:19
Hi, I am experiencing a rattly start up. This only happens when first starting in a morning, when the secondary air pump is running.
I have recently replaced plugs, coil packs, vac and boost hoses and car is running good, apart from this rattly sound.

I have also replaced the rivets on the sap.

Anyone have this before?

Thin oil and dry tappets (before the oil gets pumped around)?

Possibility I suppose as oil is 5w30, but it is only when the sap is running, coincidence?

Is it possible to disconnect the SAI pump and fire it up, see if the noise persists?  Most you might get is a code that you'll have to delete afters.
