Well my tail pipes are forever looking dirty and was wondering what you guys all use to keep yours nice and shiny.
I give mine a going over with a brillo pad but it doesn't seem to do the job very well.

A metal polish like Autosol (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_185799_langId_-1_categoryId_165527)£6 from Halfords. Then like Snoopy says, put a sealer or wax on them to protect and any future dirt should just wipe off.

Did you put chrome pipes on your GT?
-
Yeah but they were cheap ones and they have certainly seen better days!!
I keep meaning to head down the road to Kilmarnock to this place (http://www.rmsexhausts.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=45&Itemid=54) to have something decent put on but its all money money money

Thanks to you all
I shall hoof to the shops and get some chrome polish and some sealant and hope that it will come off.
-
I clean mine with CIF Stainless steel cleaner,
Followed by a coat of Poor Boys Wheel Sealant..
-
I think putting your footdown now again with every journey will help to blast those soot or microcarbon out!
-
Get them powder coated black = no more cleaning
-
+1 for autosol, one of the few decent things halfords sell.

For goodness sake Gizzy, don't use a brillo pad, you'll take all the shine off them. Clean them with some T-Cut or similar [metal polish] then put a good quality wax on there. After that you should be able to wash off any dirt and re-wax periodically.

Steel Wool will remove any stubborn marks and give it a shine.

Maybe, but they won't look as good [IMHO]

Think I prefer Chrome
-
It is a very colour dependant thing, pointless on a black car. looks good on red and would suit your white.
-
Mine are Ace very shiny , funny thing is, the diesel engine I have is so clean they just never get dirty :smug:
