Title: A tunnel race!
Post by: am1w on 22 August 2010, 11:01
This was sent as a PM to me by Snoops and I've got his permission to post it on this forum.
It's about VWs driving through the 2km long, 75m deep tunnel in Istanbul under the Bosphorous. It's great fun to watch and hope it does not get locked out and moved, PLEASE.

I don't know what the fasination with the narrow angle V6 sound is  :undecided:, i never found it pleasing myself, i would much rather have an alfa V6 as they sound like a V6 should.
I personally prefer a lad i knows Audi TTRS link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiMmGwBwjE0) or old Audi 5 pots to any V6 But thats just me, probably as i spent my pre teen youth in forests watching and listening to Audi rally cars.

I agree completely about the Alfa V6. The Alfa Arese V6 was an absolute cracker and sounded fantastic. The new V6 fitted in the Brera and 159 is a GM unit and isn't a patch on the Arese unit

Can someone send the driver the code to turn his seatbelt chime off?

Calling it drivel is generous.

Will have to agree to disagree with both of you on this one. 5 pot audi??? Although the alfa v6 does sound great it doesnt come attached to a useable car, unlike the VW V6  Not much in it I would say.. but for me the VW pips it

Nah, course it does  156GTA and 3.2 GT were great on this engine. 147GTA was a bit of a handful I must admit

I went on the alfa dealer/customer invite day a few years back when the 147GTA came out and alfa did a day on the back roads of durham. It was just after the autocar review that said the sump kept bottoming out(b0llicks). Sadly for alfa the day was on roads i grew up on (know like the back of my hand) and i scared the living daylights out of the marshals by the amount of air and speed i was doing  I found little wrong with the 147GTA it could tug but these roads were ruff, narrow and bumpy. These Roads i recently drove a new Golf R on (standard suspension + 19s) and found it too hard it kept trying to bounce/skip itself off the road
I tried a 147 With a Q2 diff (use to be ~£300) fitted and i simply could not unstick it. So i don't understand when people say they are unusable as it confuses me. :undecided: Unless there based on autocar and Mr. clarksons views. But i agree to disagree.  :undecided:
I still want a 5 cylinder VW/Audi again at some point the worble i just simply love

I didn't say it was unusable, but "a bit of a handful" The 147GTA torque steers like a b!tch under hard acceleration. Stick it on a white line in the wet and you'll see what I mean. Gorgeous car though!. I agree Q2 is a vast improvement as it's a mechanical LSD and one the 147GTA boys go for when the std one destroys itself. I was always going to get one fitted to my Alfa GT, but never got around to it. It was about £500 fitted
