Title: MK1 1600 clutch into 1800

Since there are clutch questions on at the mo, is a 1980 mk1 1600 clutch and flywheel the as fitted to a 1983 mk1 1800?? I assume yes?

think its probably smaller as well as the flywheel check on a parts site whether they re the same part numbers?  :smiley:

EG code isn't so looks like its 10mm different unless i'm reading it wrong?

ah well, my clutch feels fine after doing nowt for all these years but saw a brand new 1600 clutch for a tenner so thought it would be good to put in the spares box for when the time comes.

1.6 GTI clutch is 200mm, 1.8 GTI clutch is 210mm. either will fit but you need to get the right flywheel to match

ah thats good to know cheers, the one i found does come with a flywheel but will the missing 10mm make any difference to anything?

will take slightly less power, but prob ok for a std 1.8 :)
personally id skip it and wait for a proper sachs 210mm clutch comes up. only make i trust :)

well i dont need one at the mo, mine seems fine considering... just saw a brand new one going for £10!!!... hmmm, mines not standard so defo wont bother! thanks for info.  :smiley:
