Title: Hydraulic clutch pedal box for Mk2. Golf Mk3 VR6 or not????
Post by: Skid on 19 August 2010, 20:55
As above, I need a hydraulic clutch pedal box for a Mk2 and most projects I've read use the Passat or Corrado.
Is there any reason the Golf Mk3 VR6 one is not quoted as a recommended fit? I know the Corrado has a virtual Mk2 bulkhead, but always thought the Mk3 was similar?

I'm asking as have been offered a Mk3 one.

If this is a no no, and anyone has something suitable instead, please PM me

Thanks
M

main reason is the brake pedal fitment is different, mk2 uses a clevis pin and mk3 has like a ball and socket. also i think the steering column fitment is different at the base, and the bulkhead iirc is a little different in shape

Many thanks for the feedback. Hmmmmmmm.... I actually have an immaculate SEAT Cordoba (ABF) servo with the ball on the end so could utilise this perhaps.

More concerned about bulkhead fitment though  :undecided: I don't mind some drilling and grinding, but if I've got to start getting into welding just for this then I think I'll keep on the Corrado pedal box search.

I suppose it's an option to fall back on.

Just fit a cable actuator on the gearbox and a Toledo cable to your standard pedal box.

Bish bosh bash, all standard parts, none of this hydro nonsense.

That's a very good idea ;)

The setup from a Seat works well I think.

mine works fine, clutch is a touch heavy in stop start traffic but otherwise its nice :afro:

plus its easy to fix if it goes wrong.......
