hi guys just joined the forum. has anybody done a engine swap g60 into a mk3 golf if so how hard ore easy was it,is there any problems i might encounter?
-
1.8t is a better choice, G60 is hard to find and the supercharger has lots of issues.
-
ive got the engine with a brand new jabba sport charger got it @ a bargain price as well so i couldnt say no.
-
Have you got the wiring loom and ecu
-
yeah ive got the whole car until its done then the rest of the corrado is getting broke for parts

Going to be honest and say I am not sure where you stand with the wiring but I am sure someone else will know.
Is your Golf a GTI

yeah its a 16v. me and my friend are going to start the con at the start of september so any help would be appreciated
-
I can't help but it sounds like an interesting project! Keep us updated

So your replacing a 150bhp engine with a 160bhp, seems a lot of work for the gains.

if the corrado doesn't have many problems just have that :undecided:
-
If not much harder a swap I'd say the newer 1.8t's would definately be a better engine. If you have the mechanical skills though and don't mind some hard work fire an H22a in there, for the money you can't get a much better engine. My old one produced a proved 229bhp and was brutally quick for an n/a with not much less torque than a VR6 (and peak torque coming in at 4.5k rpm)

Isn't it illegal to swap an older engine into a newer car?

nope, classic beetles put scooby engine in all the time, you have to do the dvla paperwork tho
-
well i wanted to turbo mine but that was to expensive the corrado needs to much spent on it to get it back on the road but the engine is sweet and running 0ver 200 bhp. i will be putting my engine up for sale and the rest of the corrado if any body is intrested.it is a lot of work but how often do you c a golf mk3 g60
how do i put pics up on this forum new to all this?

I feel sorry for the rado though :'( Should be a good project none the less!
Although a VR Supercharged is the way forward

Not many and the reason is the engines are hard to find plus can be lots of trouble.

i was thinking about doing the g60 thing too but couldnt find one so im hoping to put a charger on a abf engine
-
i looked into putting a charger on my 16v engine but it was very pricey keep looing for a g60 they are allways on pistonheads
