If  that fails take it to a garage and get them to weld a nut to the locking bolt, then just use your wheel brace.

I had a similar problem with my alloys (i broke the key),
main dealer wanted ?60 to drill them off, sod that.

I took it to a local tyre fitters and they hammered a nut over the top and it came off no probs.  ;D

had the same problem with the three hole type locking wheel nut ,one of the holes became elongated due to some nice tyre fitter over tightening them , tried various sources for advice for removal which icluded anything from semtex to grinding the bolt head off (without damaging the wheel?) in the end and in desperation went to my local VW dealer where they removed in approx. five mins by hammering an undersize socket over the bolt head and undoing and the best part they didn,t charge me not even for the socket they used and broke i assume.......wyn

Gaitor grip i think is the name, it's like a socket with little pins in it which fit around anything you could want to undo.

I have seen a tool to remove locking wheel nuts in a tool shop at the Metro Center in Newcastle. ;)

so just run this past me - if there is a tool available - why do we use locking wheel nuts in the first place?

sort of defeats the object of the exercise doesn't it?

Regards,
Tin

I had to get my locking nuts removed today, took it to a tire fitting place and they brayed a 21mm socket over the nut and removed, cost me ?8, plus ?15 for a new set of nuts.

Regards.

Dean.

if you were thinking of doing it yourself dont use an ordinary socket. try and borrow a air gun socket if you can. or buy one from halfords as they are a hell of a lot stronger.  or if you definatly want it doing free, (and if your in the aa. Let your tyre down and call the out saying you cant get the old wheel off coz of the locking nut then theyll have to come out and get it off for you...
