Anyone got some photo's of of some edition 30 pescara alloys on a Mk6 GTI. I'm interested to know how this would look.
Thanks guys
-
I know of one Mk6 in candy white with anthracite Pescara's and they look great
The guys name is MikeB but I can't find any pic's of it.
-
MAW: Off topic, but why don't you flank your son with the outsides of your car, with No 1 picture being the Monza Shadows? Ditch the interior picture. Will look cool IMO.

Thanks SteveP.... I really like the sound of this. Please can you hunt him down and get some pics

Just for you I'll have a little play around with my signature photo's when I get a chance (that's if I can remember how in the hell I managed to do it in the first place).
-
Are you looking to changes wheels again, MAW?
-
Thanks Steve.... now the first picture is a real teaser ( I'm even more intrigued now ).... and in the second picture those pescara's alloys finished in anthracite look absolutaly fantastic on that car.
-
Are you looking to changes wheels again, MAW?
Not sure mate....? I could be turning into a serial wheel changer.

My heart can't stand this!
I will have to Frog Mawch both of you to the nearest wheel clamping company.

Perhaps I could just run with four different wheel styles on mine, just to keep me and everyone else happy :undecided:
I'll keep the spare wheel as it is though
-
MAW:
You are such good fun. Love it.
-
The Interlagos wheels are growing on me. Is this enough to stop you?
I think Froggy went through 5 or 6 sets. I also seem to remember he has 7 kids or was that Exonian? :undecided:

I believe its Froggy who has 'spawned' 7 kids and Exonian has the 5 sets of wheels..... I've got some catching upto there then
p.s. I still can't find any pics of these pescara's wheels on a mk6 GTi. Normally a quick google and you there....!

When I had my BBS VZ 033s everyone said they looked too small on the mk6 despite the fact they looked perfect on the mk5 I had before. I think it must be to do with the fat bumpers on the mk6 GTI as the side profile of the car is otherwise almost identical for obvious reasons.
BBS VZ 033s for those that don't know were a special wheel BBS did for the mk5 Golf that had most of the looks of the CH but didn't have the Motorsport logos similar to the CO. The Pescara is very similar to the CO and thus the VZ 033 (still awake? :nerd: ) but has a different width, offset and colour.
The VZ 033 comes in size 8x18 in ET44 (so very similar dimensions to an Interlagos) and the Pescara is 7.5x18 and ET51. You would need to run at least 10mm spacers on a Pescara on the rear axle or it would look sh!te. The Monza just about gets away without the spacer visually because of the very flat face that actually sits a bit proud of the tyre unlike most wheels which sort of sit into the tyre in a slight dish. Go and look at your Interlagos to see the slight dish then look at the Monza which has a slight lip by the tyre but then instead of bending inwards in profile it carries on almost straight for a few inches before it bends inwards as you gradually get towards the centre of the wheel. This probably makes absolutely no sense to anyone reading it but I know what I mean
So as not to bore you any further here's the VZ 033 pics:

Thanks for the photo's Exonian. I new you would have an answer when it came to wheels.
I really like the look of the wheels, especially in the first shot. They do seem to suit the Mk5 just a little more though. However if the wheels were in an anthracite finish on the Mk6 they would look spot on.
With regard to the interlagos they do sit absolutaly perfect at the back but as the fronts sit a wee bit proud there begining to bug me just a little bit.
p.s. I see you've sold your detroits on...!

My old car miss it very much  tried to get a photo on here with wheels but aint worked??

You're welcome re. the photos.
I quite like the Dinky Car look with the Interlagos on, but they do sit a little proud at the front. You'll definately need rear spacers if you fit Pescaras to get a decent look at the back.
Funnily enough I was considering painting my BBSs black or anthracite at least and got someone to do a photoshop for me:

Until I managed to get hold of my Detroits, I'd wanted a set of those for ages. And yes, now they;ve gone

Now that looks spot on, I really like the look of the anthracite alloys against silver paintwork. If you've still got these alloys I would seriously consider doing this
-
I sold those to fund the Interlagos.
-
Exonian: I wonder what the interlagos would look like then in anthracite against your silver gti. Maybe get your mate to do a photoshop.
-
Get me a good side on view of your car and I'll email it to him and you'll be able to see it on the white car.

Quality isn't great but you get the idea I guess...will get better ones soon, car wasn't particularly clean then either
-
The wheels look fantastic. Certainly suits the car.
You'll also need to post them on the Non Monza thread here (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=138568.0)

Hi Alex
Thanks for posting these pictures. The wheels look fantastic. Your car looks really nice. What the size of the alloys and tyres out of interest?
BBS are NOT the cheapest wheels in the world, but you certainly can't wrong with them on a GTI
Thanks again MAW73
-
Wow, those BBSs look lovely.
MAW73, I can't get an answer from my photoshopping expert forum buddy so he may be on holiday. I shall keep trying though.
There's a thread on the mk5golfgti in the readers rides section by monte. He's bought these nasty looking reps but have a look at this page: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,18173.15.html

Thanks Exonian for the link. I really think anthracite interlagos alloys against the silver of you car would look quaility . I've got a friend who's a wizz on photoshop but she's just had a baby so I've not had much joy either. I've even got photoshop on my pc but I'm f@cked if I know how to use it.
-
Exonian, god know's how the hell I did it but after playing around in photoshop for hours I've somehow managed to anthracite the wheels.... What do you think?
Going to have a go at a picture of your car next.

Cheers buddy for the nice comment... it makes them look not so rocco and maybe it make them suit the golf just a tiny bit more...
and now for Exonians car..... FrogGTI your not escaping this either

They will suit all body colours. I really dig them! They really suit a white car to perfection.
What's so nice is that they are no longer so-in-your-face.
Leave the bling to the Monza Shadows. They do that brilliantly.
-
Good effort there MAW73!
Looks better on your white car than on my silver (brake dust anyone? ).
Mind you the black Huffs looked better on the white car than on my silver too. Maybe silver cars and black wheels don't go so well together.
Quick, have a look at this link, black painted Pescaras dead cheap and local to you too: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,18208.0.html

Apologies if you don't like it FroGTI but I couldn't resist messing around in photoshop.... I love the colour of them in anthracite on your car. A bit more stealth and less bling!! What do you think?

Anthracite Interlagos are the future (on lighter colour cars anyway). Gonna keep mine silver though until a kerb a couple at least.
Funny how this thread started on the subject of Pescaras, it's odd how some wheels you think will look really good on a GTI just don't end up cutting the mustard and others that you're not sure of dig their way into your heart (for those of us that have one). For all the people that critisized VW for staying with the Monza design when they facelifted the mk5, you can see that they must have thought long and hard about the style of the wheels combined with the style of the car as an overall package and stuck with a theme that still just seemed to work well together. As this thread proves, alternative wheels can and do suit a MK6 GTI, but not all styles work. The Interlagos look better on a mk6 than a mk5 and the Pescaras work the other way round. And that's Friday's sermon over and done with brothers and sisters.
