Title: weird gearbox noise :s mk2 golf gti 16v*help needed*

hi all, recently found my gearbox to have blown a hole in the diff so have had to replace it, while doing this also replaced the clutch, now i have a noise when i press the clutch the only way i can describe it is like a rough hising noise, asked a few people and they have no idea just hope some one can help me on here. thanks

did thay fit a new bearing?

as thats what it sounds like to me

As above, clutch release bearing.

i fitted the gearbox and clutch and there back to front its like the flywheel sits over the clutch but no i didnt because usually on previous boxes i have done the relese bearing is on the fork where as the golf is a push rod box and there wasent one! where is the relese bearing so i can try this because its getting worse  :cry:
