My new motor has mud flaps fitted, i'm not sure wether to take em off or not tbh. I think they spoil the lines and make it look fussy round the arches particularly at the back but then again with a white car i probably need em.
Here's some dirty photos but you should get the idea.

What do you lot think?

Yes I make you right it does spoil the lines, I wouldn't have them my motor :lipsrsealed:

I agree.
The rear ones seem to look so odd in those pictures.
But if you live in a really muddy area, I would say they are a good idea. They do protect the bodywork a bit, I imagine.
-
Mud flaps are cool on a rally car or off roader......mud flaps on an Aston.....hell no!
Mud flaps on a sport hatch......hell no!!
I have a 3 door candy white and would take them off!
-
Damm it i have a set on order!

Now come on Kenny.....you know that Candy White 3 door will look good with some 15" Mud Pluggers to go with those mud flaps!
-
They just look wrong on the mk6, I think its the fact the rear bumper is fully painted before with the half black bit it looked ok.
-
I have a 3dr candy white and I quite like the mud flaps....plus I didnt have them on my mk 5 and the number of stone chips up the side of the doors was mad....7 months on and none on the mk 6...touch wood!
-
Black mk6 no stone chips on my paintwork thank goodness, and I don't have mudflaps as they totally detract from the look of the car.
-
I ordered a front pair for my mudflap-coloured GTI when it was new a year ago, but they looked so awful, I took them off even before I got round to fitting the second one. Rear flaps in particular just don't suit the Mk 6, IMHO.

I take it you didn't spec the car yourself then, or was it a used car? It's just that mudflaps aren't fitted unless requested.
I haven't totally done away with the idea myself, although I have to agree with the others who think they spoil the appearance of the MK6, so I think it's not likely that I'll have them fitted.
-
Not sure on Candy White, but I doubt you would see them on a Carbon Grey or Black car.
-
I agree they really don't look good, haven't seen many mk6's with them on.
-
I have them on mine, they were on it when I got the car.
I think they look OK, seem to match with the side plastic strip and the rear diffuser.
They probably look strange as it's not what you are used to.
-
Gutted I have oredered these
-
I would say no as well tbo. The principle of mud flaps is good but the looks not!
Just wash you car at least twice a week instead  I no this dosen't help with annoying stone chips but at the end of the day I'll keep my car 3 - 4 years max. A few stone chips here and there is not going to affect the overall price of your car when you come to sell it.
Or failing that go for the 3m film protection film (as per a thread on here a few days back).
-
Though I personally don't like the look of them especially on a white car, mudtraps do perform a useful function. They look quite good on Ess_Three's red GTi especially with his VWR wheels, I must admit. I think the colour of the wheels is quite an important factor for them to work aesthetically even on a white car.

I have mudflaps on my white GTD and I think they look great. I have black edition BBS CH rims so that might be a reason why they look good.
I have had mudflaps on all of my golfs and I wouldn't change.
-
Any pics of them on?
-
I've a pair on the front of my white 5 door.
Giving the car a good clean after a week in North Yorks showed quite a lot of grit and some small stones stuck in the tar in the mudflaps - and whilst there was still a few splashes of tar on the doors, I'm sure they helped the paintwork.

Just been thankful I had mudflaps fitted.
Was reversing into a kerbside parking space when I heard a crunch , luckily it wasn't the alloy but the madflap
So they work well as rim protectors

Not on a GTI - it's wrong.

Especially on a GTI - It's right
