Title: How much for a 2nd hand cab roof?
Post by: DAVID ESSEX on 13 January 2005, 22:28
Just wanted a bit of advice really.
If all goes well I'm getting my hands on a karmen cab for ?300 tomorrow, the only thing is some sh!t cut the roof so I need a new one.
I have found someone down the road who is breaking a black cab with a power roof. I asked how much he wanted and he said ?275! I thought that was a little steep as you can get new ones off ebay for about ?20 more.
How much would you say a decent price would be? the bloke says it's in good nick. Also how easy to fit are they?

cheers people

Is it a mohair hood ? Seems a little steep to me to be honest. I take it that is the full roof, inner and lining for that price ? Ive seen new hoods for ?275 on the net with the lining priced at ?175. If it's a full hood offer him ?200 cash and barter up from there, if it's mohair and in good nick then it could be worth ?225ish  I've never fitted one but one user that used to come on here fitted one ok (danhock), I think he needed someone's help for part of it though  :undecided:

you can get brand new standad roofs fitted for ?290, so it does sound very steep if its just for the roof :undecided:

It does sound a bit high mate.

One of my mates had a mohair roof (outer only) fitted in a place in Swansea for ?300!!

on the oter side of this, if it is a mohair in good condition and the roof is coming complete with a working power hood mechanism it could be worth it, if a new mohair is 275 plus the innerlinings. dont forget power hood units often change hands for well over ?100
