Title: What should I use to get the glue under the model designation badges off?
Post by: Jack3559 on 12 August 2010, 13:02
I'm looking for something that won't hurt the paint - that I don't have to order online.

What does everyone else use?

Brasso. Works a treat .

Smelt brasso the other day... to see what it smelt like.

Not nice - nearly blew my head off.

From my experience meths/ petrol/ lighter fluid aren't good enough solvents to make the job easy. Best stuff I've ever invested in is a 2 squid can of 'stick stuff remover' from halfords!! It makes getting adhesive from tints, stickers and badges of super easy!! I used it on the golf a few days ago, had to do perhaps 3-4 sprays because there was thick amounts of adhesive left on, and it just rubbed off, the very last bit was being stubborn so I used a hairdryer to heat it up a bit, then sprayed on the remover and off it wiped

Solvent abuse can kill instantly.

Can see why... nearly gave me a nosebleed instantly just from a little sniff.

Anyway... it works well for debadging!

Cheers!

Has Brasso not got a cutting compound in it?
Any time I've used it I can feel very small particles, would that not scratch the paint?

WD40 will remove stickers / glue quite well.
