Title: Bonnet Open Warning Light Wont Go Off!
Post by: RMar on 08 August 2010, 23:34
After topping my car up with oil, I closed the bonnet and the bonnet open warning light stayed on...Now the warning light is constantly on even though the bonnet is shut! Any help please!!

the bonnet catch sensor is part of the bonnet release mechanism. If faulty, you need to get the entire mechanism replaced.

Are you under warranty?

The warranty has expired  how much would this be to replace?

dunno. I've heard this happen to other people but it's been during the warranty period, hence not charged. Best to ring up local dealer and ask.

I think you can stop the warning light coming up if you disconnect the bonnet catch wiring, although you will need to replace the part as the microswitch seems to be a weak point.

I had to do mine earlier this year.
