Love the keyless start button, not fussed over the rest.
-
Wow, you've got keyless start  How does that work, then? What does the key/card look like? Do you have keyless entry, too?
-
I don't have it, just found some photos of it.
It explains it all in the cars manual. under KESS or something like that. Well in my manual it does anyway
Its not a keycard like renaults its just the fob and it works like the nissan version. Buttons on the door handles and ignition.
-
Do all GTI's have that red line around the dials?
-
That gear lever is very nice  so when is the push button start coming through?
-
^ As its in the manual i guess it all depends when VWuk make it an option.

Only model year 2011 ie the ones in the past couple of months.

The start/stop button looks like a bit of an after thought. It would look better down by the gear lever.
How do you just turn on the ignition, without starting the car, on these systems. Do you just press the button once without holding it in.
-
I like my key  as I can use it as a weapon to protect myself with when the need arises.
-
I wish that'd been available when I bought my car!
I'd quite like the keyless entry - as long as it wasn't an expensive option.
I wonder if it will actually come to the UK, or be one of these things that we don't get.
I agree though - it does look a bit like an afterthought... although technically it is! They've just stuck a button where the lock barrel should be!
-
Why do you care if your car is keyless, you can get nissan micras with keyless entry
Key in, twist, clutch down and start. Not hard.

It's for people who cannot use their thumb and index finger together or adequately or for those who are thumbless.

If your wife drives the car all she needs is the fob in her purse it senses her unlocks the doors when she touches the handle and then all you do is press the start button.
I had it in my Lexus IS350 and really miss it . No keys to stab you if your hands are full no worries.
-
I think its really neat... however, I don't think my Mk6 coming in late August/early September will feature this, because the car has probably been stood in a warehouse Jeddah for 6 months or so

I think its a great idea having it where the barrel should be as, I had a BMW 118d as a hire car the other daily stalled it (clutch was massively heavy compared to the Golf) and went for the keys in a panic wheres the keys, oh keck the button is on the left of the steering wheel. What a keck idea.

New dials at night..

Hmm, not sure about the red around the dials, quite like it without, wonder if my GTD will have those?
The keyless entry/start is handy - with my current X-Trail, there's been many a time where I've come back from a business trip away with my keys somewhere in my briefcase/backpack and rather than dig them out, I can just get in the car sling the bag into the passenger seat and and start the engine. That said, it's not something I'd pay extra for (just happened to be included as standard) - it's handy but by no means essential.

mine likes to flick open in my pocket

Got to agree...not fussed at all about it.
Presumably it's aimed at the DSG drivers who like the car to do most of the driving for them.

Lol... I don't know what the second half of that means, but safe to say I don't think the dealer will retro-fit keyless start and they would probably make a hash of it even if they could

illyun:
First 3 are expressions, last 2 swear words in Arabic for the male private part and the act of having sex! They use them all the time especially towards foreigners.

From reading on the R forum it seems keyless is available on the scirocco soon. So maybe it will come to the golf too.
