hey all,
got a mk2 rocco gtx that ive been running for a while with 13x8 allycats on, the problem is i have to use a 6mm spacer on the front and have also ground a lot of the caliper off to get them to clear, ive decided thats its not safe enough with how much ive ground off so i wanna find out if theres smaller calipers i can fit that the allycats would then clear, preferably without spacers too as they stick out loads, ive tried them on a mk1 1.3 golf but they still catch on them too,
any info would be great
cheers
cel

is it the caliper or the carrier its hitting? the later mk1 carriers have a big hoop of metasl which pokes out past the caliper and can cause clearance issues. if this is what you are having problems with, fit earlier MK1 1.5-1.8 carriers as they dont have that metal hoop :)
your old calipers will bolt right up to them so no need to undo flexi lines or anything

ahh yeah thats the one, bloody thing, ive got a Y reg 1.3 mk1 golf here but thats got the same carrier on it :S do you mean a mk1 golf or rocco?

is it one of these?

no its the carriers you need to change, not the calipers.
these are the late carriers, note the hoop round the front:

heres a pic side by side showing the late and early carriers, note early ones on the right have no hoop and more wheel clearance:

The same caliper is used on both carriers :)
edit: you may be able to cut the front of the hoop off, but i wouldn't risk it just get some early carriers and bolt em on.
