Is this repairable through welding? noticed it for the first time the other day, its on the passenger side front just behind the jacking point as you can see.
Starting to worry.
its a mk2 golf

Should be repairable but will not be cheap or easy to sort.
-
hopefully my dads friend will do it for mates rates. is it the seal that has gone. ?
-
Its already been welded before, but anything can be repaired

Is this the floor pan?
If it is then I looked for ages for replacement panels with no success, then I happened across these. HTH

It looks like it is holed right up to the sill.
If I were you, I'd remove the plastic sill cover and give it a hard poke with a pointed hammer or screwdriver. Sills are structural and you don't want to mess about.
Put the legwork in yourself for grinding/cutting/cleaning, then shape up the replacement panel with whatever overlap your welder recommends and you'll save some money.

Yeah, Hadrian auto panels do replacement sills for about 20.00. Doesn't need to cost the earth, as Ben says do as much prep as you can and you'll not only save money, but you'll get a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing you did it yourself.

Yes when i take the plastic seal off i can see straight through  Ill just show him as he is cheap did my bro's car for a good price, i would only feel good if i done the welding

If i was to do the welding myself, could i use an arc welder as weve got one ? We normally use it for welding lcs pipes together.?

It doesn't really matter what method of welding you use as long as you get good penetration.

just don't blow a hole in the metal by turning up the power too high.
I'd say ARC isn't ideal imo, I'd go MIG, but that's just me. I use my ARC for building gates and the like.

ARC is for botching tractors
MIG is for botching CARS
TIG is for shiney nice things
