Title: First claying session
Post by: Mr_Orange on 05 August 2010, 18:30
Car gets cleaned most weekends, but while it wasn't raining I had a good session at it today.

Started by washing car with Auto-Glym Shampoo (wool mitt, buckets and hozelock portable)
Dried it off with my trusty (massive) Armor All Micro-fibre
Clayed the paint work with Meguiars kit
Waxed it up with Meguiars Tech-wax 2.0
Interior surfaces cleaned with Armor All dashboard wipes and cleaning wipes
Tyres dressed with Meguiars Hot-shine

I was a bit sceptical, but am really pleased with the claying results.  Looks right nice!

Will do a bit more tomoro when my arms stop aching:
Hoover interior
Clay and wax bonnet and roof

I know, but I wanted to wait until I finished it off in the morning, then I'll be all over it like an oriental tourist

Still kinda surprised (with closer inspection) how rough the paint felt and how much smoother it is now.  I always thought I kept it pretty clean, guess I just wasn't aware.

Can I just go over the bonnet and roof with a micro-fibre and some quick detailer before claying, or should I wash it again?

Also, how frequently should claying be done, once a year perhaps?

It all depends on how dirty or clean the roof and bonnet is but the safest way is to wash it before claying, I clay when I feel the car needs it which is usualy at least once a year.

Gleaming ...

Miss silver, the only colour that looks good in the dark and in the sun.

However, Black is untouchable at Dusk, it becomes a mirror.
