Post by: revnit on 11 January 2005, 06:01
Hi all im new to the site i come from Australia i own a mk1 2 door golf ( more on that later ) and my mate owns 2 4 door golfs my question is realy for him he has a N/A golf diesel 1980 he has come across a factory turbo setup my question is will the standard diesal pump keep up with the turbo?? and will the stock N/A engine handle the turbo?? i have heard that the diesel turbos have a different crank in them thats why i have asked to get a 2nd opinion, im fairly new to the vw world so bare with me any other info would be appriciated

The pumps are different as the turbo pump has a pipe from the inlet manifold so it can fire in some extra fuel for the boost. Also the turbo engine has lower compression, but i think is will work (don't know how long tho ).
