Title: trim: what are these and where to get from?

Hiya all,

Posted this in the mk3 section a few days ago, no joy really - so thought I might get an answer in here?!

Its the fabric'y stuck on pads I want.  Gaffer tape was suggested by VW body shop...!

How did you get no joy in the Mark 3 Section ??  Everyone who replied stated that these are not standard VW parts and that they were not needed. If it's double sticky sided velcro you're after Halfords sell a small roll for a fiver. Although why you would want this when VW spent shed loads of money designing the Mark 3 Golf and decided they were not needed is beyond me.

They were probably fitted to cure a door rattle....

The exterior mouldings may rattle when shutting the door, that strategically placed pad could put a little tension on the moulding to hold it in place.... I cant think of any other reason for it being there!

My guess would be that a previous owner removed the trim for some reason and broke one of the clips and used this to re apply the trim. The clips are a pain in the ass and break really easy.
