Title: Park Assist with aftermarket HU?
Post by: GlennQuagmire on 04 August 2010, 18:13
Hi,

Does the parking sensors (or what they're called) use the RCD Head Unit in any way for sound or pictures?

Is it possible to replace the HU without messing up the parking sensor system on the MKVI?

Not a big fan of the RCD lineup really, I tend to go aftermarket on all of my cars.

Thanks

Yes it possible as the parking sensors have there own controller, so only send info via can bus to the display on the RCD/RNS (where fitted).

OK, does that include the sound also or is there another source for the sound? The "beeps" I mean.

Beeps are separate too.

Great thanks :).

I wonder if it's the same on the MKV? (just found out that a friend is buying one).
