Title: YK56 ZVU - BEWARE stolen recovered and on the market
Post by: davoaj on 04 August 2010, 14:56
Just a quick one, not been on here for a while after the MkV was stolen in January. Insurance paid out in the end, despite the fact that the car was recovered.

Recently contacted by a garage in London requesting documentation and spare key for the car, having picked it up at auction 6 months after it was recovered. Obviously I did not have the spare key as this was never recovered, the car having been abandoned after being chased hard by the police.

The DVLA appear oblivious to the fact that the car was stolen and recovered as they recently got in touch with me to advise that I was guilty of failing to inform them of disposal of the car. That situation is now sorted.

However I just wanted to flag it up to forum users that this car was stolen to order and subsequently recovered. I didn’t want it back under the circumstances but understand if someone wants a cheap GTI and buys in the knowledge of the car’s history. It’s obviously been standing in lockup for 6 months and only recently been sent to auction.

You’ve been warned. Car only has one key and does not have the original hand book or V5.

I’m off to pastures new in October, but I still find it hard to come on the forum. I loved that car and still miss it. Will never own another GTI.

Cheers

AJ
