I was tiding my engine bay up in the vr6, obviously inlet manifold really stands out, wondered can i paint it with hammerite or something i dont see why not?
-
shouldnt see a problem in it aslong as your careful with it and dont get any spray in the manifold itself i belive its fine  do some sort of design i have seen a few decent DUB designs sprayed onto inlet manifolds and rocker covers!
-
Paint, powder coat, chrome...take your pick.
No issues...
-
Think i got it, matte black inlet, kawasaki green engine cover with black writing and blue ht leads, think that'l look good as gone for kawasaki green calipers on diamond black car :)
-
Looks better if you remove it to paint it.
-
Should be fine to do, heres mine taken from my project page:
First got it:

There are parts that need to be cleaned up and done properly.

looks alot tidier actually, jeese wish i had a standard airbox :( lol, is that a sating silver for your manifold and cover? did you take manifold of, is it quite a easy job to do that?
-
Standard airbox will be gone this friday to make way for my... :lipsrsealed:
It's been painted white, manifold wasn't removed and i used hammerite. Was only a trial to see if i liked it before i got my other engine bay goodies
-
oh really lol, well im toying with the idea of gettin standard box with panel filter in the but the inside of box stripped and a cold air feed put to it, or a bmc filter??? lol, im goin matte black engine bay with a bit of kawasaki green, jus till nxt year when the charger finally graces it!
-
Yeah i jus got excited and brought the bmc lol, gona be a good month lol
-
How do you go about painting it without removing anything ??? ... im talking about on the 16v ... is their any sort of heat proof hammerite paint in halfords for example that can be picked up to be put on carefully using a paintbrush? because at the moment, my valver underneath the hood is let down by the crappy discoloured engine, wouldnt mind just carefully painting it black, and having the DOHC in red.

Credit to: Len for his engine bay piccie :)

There are loads of heat proof paints you can use. Hammerite heatproof worked well on my motorbike exhaust. As for the vr6 inlet I think the look tacky painted. I would take it off and spend an evening cleaning it right up with metal cleaners

Oh right, so their is infact an actual hammerite heatproof paint lol? fair enough.
-
Hammerite paint is just heatproof, it is in halfords yes, just get a tin and you can paint straight on, its good on calipers aswel, its really thick and you dont need primer either, i just dint know weather it was OK on inlets, i was having a hung over moment thou and i couldn't think straight lol
-
Yes bud hammerite do a heatproof paint but any brand will be fine

Go to halfords online, you will find the paint on there, its also in bnq, homebase, the range, most stores like that mate! I think im going to do what wayne said and take it off and spray my bits for a smoother finish
