:undecided:
Hi all
Fronts are Down to 2mm so time to change.
I've had conti sports (moved from 2s to 3s) on the car everytime. 3s are a big improvement over 2s IMHO but they don't last long (and I'm very easy on the car).
Do PS3s last any longer and are they worth the extra ££.
Only other issue is that the rear conti's still have 6mm left on them ( will put the new rubber on the rear).
Any thoughts??
Cheers

I have exactly the same dilemma! someone?
-
Bugger. I thought u were going to hive me a dick itive answer then!
-
I would go for PS3's and they will last longer worth the extra cost IMO!!
-
Same dilemma 3 months ago, I refer you to the following phrase:
"If it aint broke, dont fix it!"
-
Problem is that in a sense they are broke as they only last 10k miles!
-
My last front set of Conti SC 3's lasted 18k :smug:
-
Ive has my Conti SC 2' on car since new, and goto 20k, 6mm on back, 2.8 on fronts. I did read a review saying the SC 3's are worse that SC 2's for wear.
-
Conti3s are £230 a pair fitted and PS3s are £270 a pair fitted.
May just stick with the conti's
-
mistake!
-
i cants stand my conti 3's they wear so quickly and dont grip that well unless are warm :(

i pay £125 fitted, its noot what you know but who you know ;)
-
Too right! It's the same with everything. Is that £125 a pair? I got my last ones for £80 each for two and £85 for the other two fitted.
-
my local KwikCrap quoted me £356 for 4 Conti's SC 3's fitted
That sounds like an absolute bargain of a price! Altho im thinking thats the buy a set of 4 and get 25% off deal?
I just tried a quote with them and its just over £500 inc the 4th tyre free rubbish
-
yeah must be that deal, but I dont need 4!
-
dont know if you are interested but im in the market for some michelin pilot sport 2's

Thanks All.
Stayed with the Conti SC 3's in the end.
£40 a pair cheaper than the Mich PS 3's and I've been very happy with the Contis other than the wear rate.
Maybe get the Michs next time.
-
just swapped my conti sport 2's for conti sport 3's.
£125 per corner, for 2 fronts.
however the guy noticed my rears, that had 6mm left were badly cracked, really needed changing. I didn't do it, but i can see his point, they are 4 years old.

My last front set of Conti SC 3's lasted 18k :smug:
Mine lasted 4.5k
I was trying to kill them as fast as possible though to get R888's on
-
Oh and I now have Toyo R1R's on and they are a superb balance between the R888's and road tyres. Not cheap, but well worth it. I've done around 4k in mine including trackdays and there is still over half the tread left. Not cheap mind (£692 for all 4), but the extra grip is worth every penny
-
Hurdy, what are the R1R's like in the wet? Are they anywhere near as good as 'normal' tyres like the PS2's / 3's, honestly??

I reckon up to a point they are way better. It is only once you have huge puddles everywhere and then you aren't going to drive fast whatever tyre you have on.
