Hi Guys.
Id like to lower my 8v GTI around 40mm.
Is it just a case of purchasing new coilovers?
Are these any good/bad?

Anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks

If you only want a 40mm drop then don't bother with coilovers.
Spring and shock kit is a better bet.

Yeah, JOM aren't too bad, but for extra £40 quid, you could get Jamex ;)

Sorry I'm a complete noobie. Could you link me something like this please.

I used low springs and shocks first and then was still unhappy and went for cheap coil-overs. if you want any ride comfort then the first option is best but if you want to make the car sit lower (as you probably will?) then coil-overs are worth while
b.t.w 40mm is from new (and due to the car's age new springs will actually lower it 20-25mm normally as the old springs sag etc)

Thanks for the advice guys. Will look into it properly tonight.

That's what I bought. Would recommend.
I could sell you mine, if you weren't so far, lol

The wietec ultra GT sets are awesome, I have them on mine lowered 40mm and its very comfortable plus 100% better in corners etc no body roll at all. Only downside is they cost twice as much as the coilovers you linked in the op :P
But as they say, do it once and do it right, you dont wanna be messing about with cheap kits only to replace them in a few months time
