Title: Edition 30 DSG / Cambelt questions
Post by: richtung on 02 August 2010, 18:06
Hello gang

Im going to view an ED30 on weds - ive phoned up VW already to check its service history (all is well) its had various bits replaced under warranty. It had the mechatronics unit replaced last year. Now, its on 36k so obviously the 40k service is up. Does anyone know if the DSG oil and filter replaced when they change the mechatronic unit?

Also, ive read conflicting info but can anyone clarify when the cambelt needs changing? the car is a 57 plate.

Thanks

richard

Can't help with the auto box question but cam belt is 4 years or 60000 which ever comes first.Best to have water pump changed at same time.

cambelt is actually 120k miles or 4 years, however I would be inclined to change it much sooner than that. I've had this confirmed by both VW and a specialist.

Mines a standard GTi but it's in today having its cambelt and water pump as it'll be 4 years old on 1 September (it's done 50k miles).

Hi i'm a vw technician and can confirm
it's 4 years or 60k whichever comes
first for a cambelt change whether it be a 2.0tdi passat or a golf ed30.

And if the mechatronics unit was replaced, it should have had a new dsg oil and filter change done as you lose oil anyways doing the unit.

Hope that helps mate
