if this is needed for insurance you may have to provide proof.. i had to get a certificate from an installer to please my insurer as i never got  the installation cert when i bought my car

Just to let you know, category 1 means it is an approved alarm and immobiliser but the golf mark III already has a category II imobiliser. I got a 2 to 1 upgrade installed which is just an alarm but make the system category 1. The alarm is from cobra and includes full closer, microwave movement sensor etc and is the mutts nuts.

Had it in there for a few months so far and no false alarms.  Mine has the ultra sonics and microwave sensor and it takes a proper average over 45 seconds before arming to get a good idea of what "normal" is like. I've set it in proper gails and no falsies......(and yes I have checked that it goes off when you alarm it with a window down!).

hope this helps.

Darren.

sometimes yes.. but it may mean taking half the dash off.

when i looked ay my car before i bought it i didnt know what model car alarm was in there (on a saturday and i agreed to buy the car then).. apart from that it was a toad model due to the stickers on the windows.? i got the garage i was buying it from to have a look (they did it on a sunday which was nice of em).. and they called and told me they found the box with the model number on it up inside the dash.

so even after all that.. i didnt have the installation certification or manual but i did have the model number.

that was enough to get insurance to drive the car home on the monday... but i had 2 weeks to provide the certificate.

My insurance company wanted a fax of the certificate (or you can send by post).. so i had to pay a local thatcham approved fitter about 40 quid to test it all and give me a certificate saying it had been checked over.

I?ve got a mystic blue GTi too ? not the best colour ? I viewed the car on a dull day and it looked dark blue.  Went to pick it up on a sunny day = bright purple.

Not the best start, but I?ve grown to quite like it!   Hey ho.  She?ll be up for sale next year anyway!

my cars paint is like that too...

On a sunny day when parked uncover (how I viewed it).. it looks black with shiny silver bits..when outside.. black with a golden haze (also how saw when bought...) gorgeous..

It also looks black/silvery/sparkly at night when clean..

The rest of the year the car looks like an off black/super dark grey..

when you look close the paint is black with silvery flecks.
