Title: 1.8t downpipes
Post by: Dan_GTi8v on 02 August 2010, 01:36
Does anyone know for sure if a standard mk4 1.8t downpipe+cat will fit under a mk3? (with a 1.8t engine in it obviously :P)

Do you mean in length, or shape/bends etc?

like will it meet up with a mk3 16v cat back system, or will i need to get something custom made up
If its too long or short thats ok as can just cut it or add a bit, but need to know if it will meet up in the same place as the mk3 one

He got some overpriced qpeng downpipe and made a decat I think. The qpeng downpipe is £160+ VAT. I'm not paying that :P

I cant see why it wouldnt fit, surely if attached to the right engine it should come down under the car and meet with the cat, which would then run along the centre of the car like normal? I'm not trying to say anyone who says it wont fit is wrong, just dont understand which part could be different that would make it not fit.
I'd expect a bit of fabrication would be needed, but could it really be totally unsuitable?:)

Mk4 is a different layout plus and I am guessing it will sit higher, so you will need to mod the mk4 one to fit.
