I've not heard of anyone fitting a mk3 engine into a mk1, don't see why you would as you may as well go for the 20v option, as for fitting a vr6, it certainly wont fit straight in you'd have to do some work in the bay as you would if you went for a 20v. Why would you want to put a mk3 engine in anyway ? :undecided:

vr6 powered mk1's are very rare. The only one that comes to mind is the peach coloured one that I think Awesome built in about '96. More recently this was mag featured again and is now dark green. It was for sale on ebay a while back. It's serious work to fit!

cheers for that,  i was thinking of the reliability and they are easy to maintain. i have to do a lot of miles and mines getting a bit long in the tooth now. i guess engine mounts, electrics and fueling will be a ballache. ill look into it some more,
cheers,
paul

In terms of power and time you'd be better off going for a rebuilt mk1 engine. Try TSR, it costs but believe me you know where the money went when you put your foot down....!!!
