what drilled/grooves disks does everyone go for? need some new fronts, was thinking black diamond etc, have seen brembos 4 cheap, they look a bit chewy but they must be quite good if theyre brembos surely? any suggestions?

Zimmerman OEM not grooved, not drilled.
Unless you have uprated the KR you should be fine with OEM.
If you need more than that go OEM 280mm, without holes or cuts in the discs.

The point of drilled and groved is as pressure is exerted from pad to disc, under heavy load it produces friction that causes gasses to be expelled. The groves help the gasses to escape and thus more friction on pad to disc. Plus extreme braking can cause an effect called brake glazing where the heat has melted the dust to glaze the surface of the disc. This glaze is like a resin coat that stops friction from pads to disc i.e f**ked brakes! The holes are another whole story but most people will say don't do it! The idea is that all those pad particals cause a buffer the only way you can make them bind better is to make sure its just pad to disc. Hence the holes help to cool the disc and help to get rid of those particals. Now the controversal part is that Porsche had realised that as there is less solid disc under extreme braking the heat was not cooling faster enough and this caused a load of drilled discs to crack. If you want my opinion for them to crack you would need some serious braking constantly to cause such outcomes. The other factor is that discs rust over time and when you have got drilled discs, your discs get old and rust which means they are more prone to rust and stress factors are evident they will split and crack? Most people compromise and only go for light groves and a few holes where the disc takes the most heat and pounding. My personal use of drilled and groved(EBC) is that they are over kill on roads pads are more important in that case, but on track you will notice the difference braking late into corners on a set of groved and drilled discs! Hope that helps a tad but we can discuss this at length but its down to the driver and car specs in the end? :rolleyes:

So basically unless you're racing, and changing the discs every other race...don't go drilled/grooved??
