Title: 1st/2nd Syncro on the way out, new gearbox time?
Post by: Concorde Rules on 30 July 2010, 23:14
Hi,

Just signed up for some opinions on what I should do regarding my 1983 GLs gearbox.

It's a 1457cc Petrol with a 4+E gearbox, FF code.

Don't particularly want to spend £600 to get it reconditioned just yet.

Any cheaper options for fixing the syncro?

Or what other gearboxes should I look for? 4T seems a nice swap but the ratios are a tad longer according to:

http://www.4crawler.com/Diesel/VW_020_transmission.shtml

Any opinions/suggestions?
