Sold it through the dealership I work for so car had the works before customer bought it put map back to stock then had it serviced and mpc'd, sold it because I think it was the right time and considering I sold it for more than I paid for it it was the right thing to do financially, there is not many chances you will have to drive a car for just a year and sell it for more than i paid for it where as if i had kept it perhaps another year it would be worth alot less may well get another or a 5 door gti.

For me my revo gtd was perfect 200bhp rucks of torque and 41 mpg urban 55/60 on a run is the perfect combination of styling and performance. Gti is as good a car but with the difference of economy the gtd+revo was the one for me and certainly for alot of people. We have alot more orders for gtd over gti in recent months aswell as scirocco gt tdi 170 over the 2.0tsi. I would happily have either depends what comes my way again.

I'm looking forward to seeing what car you get next mate. I hope your not going over to the dark side and buying a scirocco (saying that, I just put some rocco wheels on my GTI, so I can hardly talk).

Do you realise that the 'rocco door frame colour does not show on the inside like in the Golf? So much more upmarket.

I also prefer the look of the leather seats in the 'rocco. They don't look so worn-out or wear as quickly!

However, the car has only 3 doors (I need 5), a fat ugly arse and a small boot (though bigger than the Golf R's).

But, it looks great from the side and the inter wheels suit it to a T.

Hmm .... The R was not probably trying!
Anyway, the S3 looks old and frumpy and the 5 door looks like a bread van.

Seeing as he had an identical car with a golf body kit i doubt he was. Still knowing he paid more than £10k more than me left me with a warm fuzzy feeling

Hardly.
The S3 may share a platform, but they drive completely differently.
The S3 is numb, and harsh, next to a Golf.
Audi really need to sort their damping out.

I looked long and hard at another S3, but it just drove so badly - even with the essential magnetic ride helping out - that I couldn't live with it.
You can get some cracking deals though - I could have got an S3 Black Edition, in red, with Recaro buckets and a spec otherwise matching my GTI, for £1500 more....which is a lot of car for the cash in anyones book.

I find it no different to my R32 in terms of ride. If i wanted a soft ride though i wouldnt by a hothatch and get myself a comfy diesel.

Everyone is different though

If it was my own money to spend I might consider and s3 but as its a car I use as a company car as I work at a VW dealership it would have to be a golf r.

He must of been an awful driver if you wipped his ass that much.

Nice car the s3 drove a 3 door manual back in 2008 lot of respect for them.

The R32 probably does feel similar - both suffer with a lack of feedback, and both understeer - in my view/driving style.

I don't want a soft ride...but I do want something that's not totally numb. I'd like to have some idea what the front end is doing, and how much grip i've got.
I felt the S3 was poor in that respect. The last one was the same...as are most Audis.

Let's be honest...none are 'Hot Hatches' any more...something weighing in at 1300kg, possible 4wd, and built like a tank, isn't a 'hot Hatch'.

I didnt whip his ass at all mate, just gradually pulled but would have been down to his newer engine. They are identical speed terms as its the same engine

I agree mate, i would class the S3 as more of a GT car than a hothatch. The audi is alot more numb than the gti though yeah, i like the feel though as its a little more solid and i cant really corner fast in london

How about a polo GTI ?

We do have a polo gti 3 door on order with every box possible ticked but polo gti's have been taking months and months to come through didnt help they had shortage of dsg boxes which is of course the only option for the gti.

Will be a really smart little motor however like everything these days alot of money.
