Hi all,
My car makes a sqeaky noise when running, in all gears and neutral, which only goes when the clutch is depressed. No running issues as such (apart from difficult gear changes sometimes) its just bloody annoying when your flying down a country lane and i can hear squeaking over my engine and exhaust noise.
Apparently its the input shaft bearing possibly (according to haines). The manual doesn't help at all with the 02A gearbox and just says refer to an expert.
What i wanna know is.. can just the bearing be changed or would i have to get another gearbox to sort the problem. Is it an internal part of the box etc?
Any advice/opinions would be great!
Cheers
Rob

If it is the input shaft bearing then its a full teardown of the box matey, a lot easier and probably just as cheap to just source a new box and fit that.

I had the same problem when mine collapsed but I bought the parts whch were about £60 for a new shaft and bearing and the car drives like a new car now.
I wouldnt buy a nother box as 6 months down the line you could have the same problem.

To be honest if it goes when you press the clutch pedal, id put money on it being the clutch release bearing matey! New clutch kit is required.

I would say this is where your problem is.
