Title: Immobiliser Problems
Post by: Chew22 on 29 July 2010, 11:05
Hey Guys,

I had my GTI up on the ramp having its back brakes changed and when I went to drive it off it wouldn't start.

It would try and start, but it seems the fuel wasn't getting to the engine.

This I imagine is a problem with the Logic CONLOG immobiliser system.

Anyone had a problem with theirs before and know of a fix/work around. Any way to disable the fuel cut off (if it even exists) part of the immobiliser?

On a separate note I also broke the starter motor trying to get it going, so getting that sorted.

Any advice whatsoever is appreciated.

Josh

I've gone through this thread and printed off the manual thats kindly been uploaded. Just shows general usage. Think I'm gonna have to get the mechanic to rip it right out!

I don't think ripping it out is going to do you any good. Unless I'm mistaken, the immobiliser is actually built into the ECU.

I had similar problems over a year ago, when my valver just wouldn't start. I called an auto electrician out, who confirmed that the immobiliser was knackered, but was not fixable on it's own, and that I needed to replace the ECU.

Fingers crossed for you that it isn't that, as it cost me best part of 200 notes sourcing one that didn't need the chip from the key to work.

That is only the factory unit on later cars.

From reading the receipts (off the top of my head now) it was fitted by VW pretty much instantly after being sold. It's defiantly a Logic 850 or 950, will check when i get home.

Does this immobiliser effect Fuel cut off?

Starter motor was ordered at lunch. £70. This rebuild is getting expensive now!

I think your goal is remove the bit of the immobiliser that affects the fuel pump if possible. I'll just let the guys at the garage stress about it!

Just to come back to this. When changing the Starter motor the battery was left disconnected for a few hours. This seems to have allowed the immobiliser to reset and sort its self out. If this happens again, its gonna have to be looked at properly.
