What a pityful excuse for a reversing light. Had to go out last night and found it was useless when reversing up my drive and through the gates. It has the range and lighting power of my keyring torch
Anyone know if the bulb holder is installed and wired on the other side and if so can it be activated without buggering up the light monitoring circuit?
-
No because the bulb holder on the other side is your foglight
I find the reversing light not great but ok. I have to go up a private road with no street lighting and have to reverse through the drive gates and turn 90 degrees to get into the garage. So i sort of know what you meen.
I bet its alot worse on the LED lights though as its tiny on them.

I never thought about the fog light! Just checked out some pics of non LED cars after you mention it and they are quite a bit bigger. Reverse light output from tiny reversing light on the LED lights is dismal
-
It might be smaller, but can it be brighter?
Rubbish either way, I quite agree.
-
You used to have the normal rear lights am1w, do you notice any difference between old reversing light vs the new one?

I never paid any attention to the brightness. As it's quite well lit where I live and in most of London, reversing light(s) have very little effect. They all seem to be pretty useless.
Maybe a reversing camera is the way to go. Saw SteveP's reverse camera in operation today in twilight. Amazing clarity and brightness.
However, at present, I am partial not to spend any more on the car.

I wish I had specced the reverse camera at purchase time as it would have cost £150, but as I have had it retro-fitted it has cost £350 however, it is a stunning piece of equipment and how I got by before having it is anyones guess. Quite awesome to show your mates when they're in your car. Not quite as eseential for you Asker as you have parking sensors

True. £350 is expensive. I'll put that money towards the Xenons.
As the song goes: I am waiting, I am waiting ....

My front and rear sensors are very sensitive and show up distances on the RNS screen and the beeps emerge from the front and rear speakers inside the car depending on where the obstacle is situated . But I suppose actually seeing what's behind you is much, much better and safer. Worth £350? Probably.

^^^ Thanks Amanda
I have the RVC and sensors, and when combined with the lastest firmware on the RNS gives a very cool and useful overlay of the optic sensors and the reversing image

Double check with Darren what firmware is on your RNS as it should do this with the 2660 firmware
