Title: Bad MPG
Post by: Deefadog on 08 January 2005, 11:23
My car is finally running great thank to all the help from you guyz, problem i have now is that I am getting bad MPG

Urban 20 MPG, Motorway, 25 MPG (this is from the MFA) and confirmed by ?20 of petrol gave me 120 miles

This is driving very carefully aswell, 3000 rpm and change :) not thrashing it at all!

Not much difference between normal unleaded and optimax, slight improvement but not that much!

Any ideas on what i should check to improve the MPG?

btw - tyre pressure, tracking and balancing are good!

have you got new air filter, plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm?
otherwise check the fuel mixture, if too rich plugs will be on the black side.

hope it helps

Thanks mate, Yep they are all new, even the distibutor is new and the leads!

I'll check the plugs!

One thing I can remember from getting it crypton tuned is that he said the spikes on the machine for the spark plugs were very high, something like 15 when they should be around 8, no idea what this means though??
