Title: Gearbox problems (jumps out of 4th, and stiff)

Hi all,

My Golf GTi 16v keeps jumping out of 4th, all other gears are stiff to put in and out of gear.

The gearbox was a reconditioned one put in in January this year. So just about 6 months old!

Not too savvy with mechanics so just looking for suggestions on what it could be?

Mine was doing that right before I took it out and replaced it with a new engine and gearbox. When we drained the gearbox oil, there was shards of metal in it  :grin: :grin: might be an idea to check it. Have you got a receipt for the recon?? If so, take it back, it should have a couple years warranty on it

Yeah got the receipt, had a friend-mechanic look at it last night and said the linkage is all out of wack... will get that sorted, hopefully that solves it!

I don't think jumping out of gear is going to be a linkage problem.
