Title: Airbag steering wheel in non airbag car?
Post by: mike-a on 25 July 2010, 18:49
I'm thinking of changing my poverty spec steering wheel for something nicer.Car has no airbags but most wheels I've looked at do.Have heard you need to connect the airbag to ground to make it safe.Anybody done this mod and know the details? Don't fancy a broken nose and two black eyes from an airbag going off!

Thanks :-)

Will make no difference, if it is not plugged in then it can not go off.

Thats what I was thinking.
Slight paranoid head on about having explosives where they're not meant to be!

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Would it be okay for the MOT? They seem to like things that are attached to be working and all that :/

Easy enough to swap over come MOT but I don't think the airbags are part of the test.

I've just put a Polo MK5 (I think) steering wheel in which has an airbag, my 16v doesn't have such a function and it's all good. :afro:
