Title: Wheels/suspension for tracks. and race clubs
Post by: spacerat on 25 July 2010, 14:40
What wheel and suspension setups do u guys have for your track cars.
At present i have bilstein shocks and springs which drop it about 30mm.  although once i stripped the back out it looks normal height on the rear.  I was looking at 15" Rota slipstream wheels et 40(i think)that weigh in at 5.4kg or there abouts(good choice?)  and do u lot just do random track days or is there some kind of club/race group that you compete in??

I go to days organised by both connections and full on organised days.

My Team dynamics rims were chosen because they weren't too dear and were 6.something kilos - cheap and strong.

5kg sounds a) expensive b)possibly not the strongest.

What's the car?  If it's a G2 then ET40 sounds suboptimal by about 5mm - you don't want to have to spacer as it reduces safety and likelihood of failure.

Again if it's a Golf2 (or 3) sitting still the lower control arms should be dead level, or angled slightly down.

You'll get a lot of benefit from a proper alignment set up on the front of the car (and check on the back, to see it's all straight.

There next on my list, lightweight wheels. Known for a while about how much theyll transform the handling etc, was going to get some team dynamics but will search for them oz's. Ive heard bad stuff about rota, being they break quite easy. Ive seen lots about having a 40mm drop around, thats what ive got atm and feels good.

ET35 and I think my Team Dynamics were around £300.

Aren't Rotas what G-Werks are pushing out at the moment?

Yeah Rotas are pretty "scene" at the moment. I believe they actually reps of a better known (in Japan, not  here) wheel brand.

I run -40mm and ET 25 15 x 7 Compomotive MO's.
