So am going to keep my car for now, but just looking at the 4th year servicing costs which is due in end of August and I got quoted the following quote from VW main dealer;
£340 for major service, inc oil, spark plugs, all filters.
£299 for cambelt change
£230 for DSG oil
your thoughts, sound about right?

^^^ No chance. I was quoted £289 without any haggling - after I said I'd already had the sparkies done and some hardball haggling, I was quoted £175 for the 4th year service. Seriously, it's getting done next week.
£299 for cambelt change
^^^ That sounds about right. Remember to get the water pump done at the same time - parts only cost, because it can be done with no extra labour.
£230 for DSG oil
^^^ No clue. Manual, FTW!

When I had my 4th year service I took out VW's service offer of 2 services, 2 MOT's and a brake fluid change for £299.
I had my cambelt done for £299 after they matched another dealer.
I haven't had my DSG oil change yet as I'm not at 40,000 miles.
-
Dsg oil change is listed on the VW 'fixed price servicing lost as posted on another thread link added for you to compare

I assumed DSG oil was every 4 years for some reason?
-
am I wrong, should I be getting my DSG oil done at 4 years and 20k?
-
DSG oil change is every 40k miles but I guess you can have it done if you want!
-
Thanks, that's £230 less to worry about!
-
strangely the marketing dept from the same dealer phoned up and gave me these better prices...
£229 major service
£69 for brake fluid (£99 if you have air con done as well)
£299 for cambelt, £399 for cambelt and water pump (tried haggling for just the part cost on top of £299, but they weren't having any of it.

for those follwing this thread..
just checked the Vw fixed price servicing offer..http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/fixed-price-servicing?cmpid=ID662_35_2_27__23_42_1_1_3 (http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/fixed-price-servicing?cmpid=ID662_35_2_27__23_42_1_1_3)
It lists the the DSG oil and filter change for £150... i think youhave to have it done at the same time as a service though but still reckon its a good deal.

interesting, it says prices valid until dec 31st, the person who phoned me from the dealer that cambelt price only valid until end of august!

Just booked my ED30 for its 40k Service at my local stealers, Glbert Lawton Manchester.
Was originally quoted for:
40k Inspection service £191.66
Air Filter £26.84
dust and Pollen Filter £24.09
DSG Oil and Filter Change £175.48
Total inc VAT £418.05
Instead, I took them up on their Service plan Offer:
i get two services and two MOTs (MOTs are normally £30) for £299
I also got the DSG oil and filter change down to £150 (it would have been £175 as the car wasnt quite 3 years old but managed to negotiate)
Brake Fluid change £50
All that for £500 - i dont think ive done too badly. Im also having the cambelt tensioner looked at as its making the sqweeking noise but i should get this under warranty.
The dealers are offering MOT's for all makes apparantly

That's an awesome find, will definitely look into that.

so had my 4th year service.
despite agreeing to replace spark plug and filters, they didnt.
guy from dealer phoned up today and said the tech wouldn't of put them in, as on the new system it doesnt tell them to, as VW changed their advice on when to renew them, its now 6 years!
I said thats a bit bad as it says it my service book 4 years and the car is now 4 years old and thats a long time not to change them!
also some flapy sensor (£123) has gone wrong, they put a request in, so waiting to find out if VW will do it on good will, as car only done 19k!
-
Dealer now saying that they aren't doing the £229 deal until 1st Sept, that's convenient!
-
so can anyone confirm if VW are now saying change the spark plugs every 6 years?

Mine wearnt changed either when it went in fot its 40k service. I checked the service book and it says that the TFSI engine doesnt need new spark plugs until 60k.
Hope this helps

Just rung my local VW dealer (Poole, Dorset) - for a quote for my 4 year service. Was offered the £299 deal for 4th & 5th years services/MOT's. Asked about cambelt change and was quoted £585 ! and was told i didn't need a water pump, but if i required one it would be an extra £150. I asked why on the VW website it states £299 for water pump and cambelt; and was told as they weren't a member of that scheme the price would be £585 - only a certain few VW dealerships are members. Think a bit of shopping around is in order !!
-
its true only certain dealers are doing it. however they wont know if you need a water pump unless they inspect it, from what I understand the design has changed and they dont wear out as quick now.
-
got quoted £229 for 4th service and £50 for brake fluid, my mates garage will do brake fluid for £25, do i need to get the cambelt done? cars 3.5 yr old and 37k miles, also air con fan comes on as soon as aircon turned on ,,really loud, any clues?
-
my car is bag on 4 years old and only 20k, but was advised by everyone to do cambelt, its down to the age of the cambelt, not mileage of car.
-
If you have the VW extended warranty, why would you pay to get the water pump done as well. This part is covered under the scheme, hence why I did not do the water pump when the cam-belt was changed on mine. So something worth bearing in mind if others have a warranty!
