Title: bodywork questions

I've been looking around at all the threads but im still not exactly sure on what i should do, i have never really dont much bodywork before

firstly i want to repaint and maybe smooth some of my bumpers, do i just use normal bodyfiller or do i need plastic filler?

and i would also like to remove the side bump strips on my Mk3 and smooth over the recess, what would be the best way about doing this?

You will need plates welding over, lots and lots of work.
