Title: Cold start
Post by: goblin on 22 July 2010, 14:04
i dunno if any one can help.  basically whenever i start my car for the first time in the morning it really struggles.  It was worst in the winter and has improved a bit now the weather has warmed up.  It just doesnt turn over properly first time.  Its been to the stealers but they cant find anything wrong...  Once the engine is warm its totally fine.  It only happens in the morning and not later in the day like when i drive home from work.  its a 57 plate and dsg if  that makes a differnce?   i only use shell fuel (95 ron).  have tried V power but that doesnt seem to have made any difference.

I have the same issue, and I'm also suffering from a misfire when the engine under load.  I think both problems might be linked to a faulty coil pack which hasnt as yet logged a fault.

I would like to think the useless monkeys at the dealers would have spot that but in now way would I be surprised if they hadn't.

Most stealers won't pick up any fautls unless the computer tells them ...

Have a search for PCV fault and see if the symptoms match yours - IIRC poor starting is a sign its on the fritz.  Good news is its cheap and easy to change.
