the cars goin for an mot tomorrow. and i know its going to fail on
front left strut bearing - bought a g60 setup
rear axle bushes - bought powerflex ones
rear tyres - ordered last thursday but not delivered.
so im guessing the labour for fitting my new parts isnt going to be cheap. plus they might
find other faults.
anyone got a rouph idea on how much it may cost me to get an mot certificate?

If you know its going to fail on something, why not fix it before you get it mot'd? Just a waste of money otherwise :rolleyes:

Not being funny mate - buy it, take it, fail it, fix it.
I bought a Driver (blind sort of) and took it for a mot and now have a fix list, my time and effort to put it right, I will add my hourly rate is most likely a lot more than VW labour rate, so answer to yours is about £1000 Inc parts and labour, won't do vat. Sorry to be vague mate but what needs doing?

not really.
you could fix everything you know about and it would still fail on something else unseen such as emissions, brake pipe clips not present or the end snapped off a coil spring, for example. No point going to all that effort only to be kicked in the balls at the last minute.
plus re-tests are (usually) free within 10 working days, so get it MOTd regardless, sort the list of failures out one-by-one and retest for free :afro:

Sort it first than you still have 7 days for a free re-test... If it fails

still didnt stop me from getting 17 failures and 18 advisories ...

Luckily they were all silly things, horn not working, brake pipe clips missing etc. Nothing major! :cool:

my list of faults were 1.front strut bearing - bought a g60 mount kit and fitted myself.
2. i kenw my tyres were on their last legs, so bought and fitted those. i was just wondering
about getting rear axle bushes fittet, because of having to take the petrol tank out etc.
apologies for the vauge description to begin with.
on the flip side the car passed without any advisories =)

To my knowledge the standard bushes are a right pig to fit and require pressing in. Ive heard people heating them up with a hot air gun to get them out. You can get aftermarket ones that come in 2 halfs which are alot easier to fit, but are apparently stiff and sometimes creek? depends on your budget I suppose. You will not have to remove the fuel tank to do this job, maybe the exhaust depending on which option you go for. My advice is unlewss they need doing don't bother

had mine done by the boys at work... they like their hammers!
got the full rear beam bush, not the split ones. took them about 45 mins each side i think
