Could be a bad injector...

when i was looking for solutions to my cylinder 2 misfire guy at garage said he'd just done a leon and they had to replace the injector.  Part was around £120 but said was a really big job to change it

Could be the injectors. They are a PITA to get to as they are under the intake manifold.

I haven't heard of valves burning out before on K03 GTI's, but you never know.

Yea could be 1 option, BUT...

The battery has not been off and is not flat!.. Ive tested battery & alternator and is fine. Im getting different faults arising all the time!!!

An intermittent fault could point to a dry connection in the ECU, a poor wiring connection or a core break inside a wire. Have you disconnected any circuit connectors or wiring recently (or the dealer?)

I was thinking ECU

I might take it off and send it to BBA for testing and repair, or is there another way to test?

Nothing's been disconnected before the faults occurred

Also my low boost fault i'm thinking could be the vanes stuck in my turbo as everything has been replaced that could be a possible cause!. Ive seen a turbo cleaning set for it?

LOL, that doesn't suprise me one bit. You need to take it to a specialist. Sounds like its under warranty though - good luck.

p.s. the petrol GTi's don't have variable vanes on either K03 or K04 turbos, so unlikely to be that.

If it is registering misfires then there is definitely something wrong!

I took for a blast tonight, and didnt feel too bad. I cant hear the turbo though to be honest with windows up, just alot of engine revving. It feel's like it did before when the DV went wrong!!.

....anyway, got home and sat in it for 2 mintues, and i could feel the engine miss-fire . It's crap, How the hell can I diagnose a miss-fire with and without my vag com, and VW have it for 4 days and cant find a thing wrong with it.

Now what to do!!

Someone recommended to change the Fuel pump in the tank!.

So ive done that today, and seemed to go good on the way home. I'll go for a blast tonight and update.

Went for a long blast and all seems good still. Not one missfire. Power is back, and smooth. Wheel spinning again in 2nd out of corners

So unless I get more bad luck, this thread should be done with.

Is your car still running ok.
I am having the same problem with mine,
Do you know if there is a guide anywhere to show how to fit the pump into the tank.
And can you tell me how much the pump cost if you dont mind

Hi,

Pull the rear seats out, No Bolts, just clipped in. Under O/S of seat there is a plug and big rubber cap, remove this and the fuelpump is under this. Unscrew and fit new pump. Very Easy,

Make you you got min furl in tank.

£125.00 + Vat for Pump.

Do you run the tank dry often? Never heard of a failing fuel pump! It's quite common on most cars to have to change the fuel filter after around 60k miles as it's no longer part of the service schedule!

No i try to keep a near enough full tank all the time.

LOL, that's not the best way to get the most out of your car - 60l of fuel weighs nearly as much as a passenger - both fuel economy and performance will be affected!

Fuel pump was from VW, although I pay trade prices so can get one much cheaper. I can get a price for you if you like.

My fuel filter was changed about 7,000 mile's ago.

My car went into VW for 2 Days first time and they told me to change fuel pump control unit, then went in for 4 days and they could not find the fault!

I chnaged the fuel pump after a couple of suggestions by other garages, and it's work. So far so good, all my power is back, not a single miss-fire so far ( Touch Wood ).

The Fuel Pump part number has changed, so it's a modified part

Do you know if this is the fuel pump you can hear priming when you open the door, and if so did you know it was at fault because you could no longer hear it?

Yea the pump in the tank is priming, The pump can get blocked and restrict fuel flow or become weak and therefore cant supply enough fuel.
