There seems to be every retrofit you could possibly require, surely someone knows of a retrofit kit for xenons.
-
Yep it's possible, kufatec wiring adapters are the main thing and then you need to decide how far you want to go on the retro fit.
The basic option is just the lights or you can go the full hog and have washers and auto levers.

There you go Asker, get in there!!! don't bother with the washers they can be tits  every time you go to wash windscreen the whole bonnet gets a lathering.
-
I've looked into this and it is not cheap, the best I can get so far is.
Both Xenons, controllers, ballasts etc. 999 Euro
Self levellers 219 Euro
Central Electrical Control Unit 299 Euro (this needs upgraded from the one in your current car)
Adapters 50 Euro
Total cost for parts approx 1567 Euro ; £1300
You also need the headlight washers to be legal which is fine if you already have the winter pack.
I have given up and just upgraded the bulbs.

Do they not just activate if the headlights are on?
Turn them off as you are about to wash the windscreen
-
I've got the washers. All I need are the dancing Xenons and associated bits.
-
Asker Ive done this on my golf and about 5-6 other forum members cars, I fitted the xenons including auto leveling and washers.
Seen has you have the washers it will make it easier you will just need the xenon lights and auto level kit, Your central electrics module should be fine for coding xenons in.
If you leave it with me my mate had a new GTi breaking I can see if he will part with the xenons cheaply?
Darren
-
Oh joy Darren! I am praying your friend will take pity on me.
-

Not easy if your car uses the Xenons as DRLs...they are always on, which means every 4th wash of the window, you get a pair of foamy front wings!
-
^ If i turn the light switch to the side light setting mine don't do it.

Yes I know but sometimes in the heat of the moment I forget to do that and hey presto both wings are covered.

Can't wait for Steve or Darren to come up trumps!
Their switch-on dance routine must be so cool.

It's now a race to the finish between Darren and Steve.

SteveP Kindly switched mine off the other weekend with his VAGCOM kit. I'm so happy that my light switch now has more uses than just switching the dash lighting on or toggling xenons / sidelights!
Cheers again Steve!
-
^^^^^ The DRL's I mean.
-
Its odd but i was actually trying to get it too clear the lights yesterday (its been raining here like mad for nearly 3 days so cars a mucky mess anyway.) And with it in 0 or auto in the daylight it would not clean the xenons even after about 10 screen washes. I had to turn the light switch fully to the right to manually switch them on before it would wash then on about the 4th wash.
-
Snoops, this should make you envious: I've washed my front windscreen twice and the rear one thrice using the wipers!
Hope it stops raining. Told you to move down south!
-
So is it possible to get these fitted? Wonder how much they are from vw? Am desperate for a set!
-
It would be interesting to find out including their outrageous labour charges.
-
^^ 99% of them will tell you it's not possible.
It retro-fit does require an aftermarket adapter (even though it can be done from VW parts).

You're so right. They could not fathom how the rear LEDs were retro-fitted either!

Asker I asked my mate Steve the other day about them xenons and apparently they got sold on to one of his mates but said if he gets rid of the car he will ask him if he will sell the lights,
I have also asked him to keep his ear to the ground and if any more come up Ill have them.

Darren,
I was just about to PM you!
Thank you for informing me. Please keep a look-out for them.
Got lots of patience!
Gizzy is delighted, in fact over the moon as am I!
Thanks for everything and keep in touch.

Vw know nothing if they had guys like us they would be making a mint
Darren

You guys should start a VW Consultancy and present them with a business case.

Anybody out there can get me Bi-xenons at a reasonable price?
I'll post my request monthly.

How much do they go for? When I chose my previous car Ed30 I speced the DSG over Xenons!! I do think they are overrated a bit for the money, yes nice to have but I can think of better things to spend my cash on!! Great in the winter Xenons though!!

Factory fit is approx £1200 a pop.
I am willing to pay £750 all included. Tight b!tch!

My question is are they really worth the money Steve?
-
To me yes, since owning an X5 a fee years ago I always get cars with xenons now :nerd:

I would like them but can't justifi the dosh really ???
-
^^^ agreed they are a lot of money for what they are.
-
I really want them and am willing to pay a touch more depending on my night job!
Hopefully, and I am an evil brastard to wish this, a couple of the young 'turks' who own Xenon equipped Mk6 GTi or R cars will crash them  for write-offs and both Steve30 and AAM will be delighted reciepents of cheap dancing Bi-Xenons.
Wonders will never cease! :lipsrsealed:

Thailand or xenons erm difficult choice really oh well Thailand it is!!

Not going back there again for Kev's sake! Have you not run out of things to do there???
-
SteveP:
Just discovered some large holes in both my front pockets!
It's hard for me. No DRLs, no Xenons, nothing.
-
^^^ put xenons in and your DRL's will work again
-
Not for a while but at some stage I will be? Got a few mates out there also been offered a job !!
-
As for xenons i guess it depends how often you think you may need them. I found them of great use on the narrow back roads of Rothbury the other night but theres a lot of roads round here in the wilderness like that were they are very useful.
-
I just want them for one-upmanship, as I am a terribly shallow person!
-
^^^ put xenons in and your DRL's will work again
So help me out please. I am destitute without the DRLs and even more so now without the Bi-Xenons.
I suppose I'll have to up the price I want to pay.

I'll have my DRL's working.
I used the German version of VCDS instead of the USA version from Ross-Tech, now they work perfectly;

What coding option did you set ?

What coding option did you set ?
I thought it was 09 (centr.), byte 24 and bit 7 with the German VCDS, look carrefully, and remeber, it's at your own risk
Good luck

Interesting.
But not for me yet. Feel those LEDs are a bit too huge. Not that cheap either.
Still want the Bi-Xenons. When, how, just have to wait and wait.
Hope your last PM will get my DRLs working! Thank's for that.

I like them  I do think if both lights were round in there it would look better, but i like the LEDs

Changed my mind. On re-examining those lights, they actually look really cool.
I think it is the initial 'shock' that got me!
Not bad value either.
Are you going to get some?
-
I do like them, but want to see them in real life first

Might have to go to Italy as per your pictures!
I think they'll be cool.
Then there is the chrome or black choice. I'd go for chrome.
BTW: VW might possibly bring out something similiar in September? :undecided:
-
Sent the makers an email about them.German company. I prefer the black ones, look more oem I think. Wonder if they would bring up any errors and if they still use the standard h7 bulb behind the projector lens!? Think am goin to get them!

I'd like to see some in the flesh.

Oh dear.
Wan*er lights on a Golf. Not good.
Some sort of wannabe Audi look.
I wouldn't have a car with those fitted parked on my driveway....truly tragic, in my view. :embarassed:
-
They are approx 25% the cost of Bi-Xenons. I'll wait to retro-fit the latter.

All cars will have LEDs soon mate, its going to be law.

DRLs are becoming law...I didn't see the bit where it said you had to have silly swirly strips of LEDs.
Current (2010) cars are already complying with the Regs, I am led to believe - without LEDs.
