Mike kindly got me sorted at the weekend withe the LED rear lights and a few other VAGCOM tweaks.
We get the LEDs working but I have lost my DRLs and now just my headlights are on all the time but no tailliights. Also, when I used to open the car, all of the lights would have come on (without doing the coming/leaving function.
Is there anyway these can be programmed back into the car?
I basically want the xenons and taillights on 24/7.

I posted the same when I fitted mine.
I lost my rear lights from being on all the time - which I am actually pleased about.
My Xenons always were on all the time - whenever the ignition is on - so no change there.
Rears come on if required, and the lights are in Auto...but aren't on as DRLs.
-
I would quite like to get back to the way I had them but I am not too bothered if I lose the functionality of the small DRL under the headlights.
I wonder if my taillights will come on when I open the car in the dark. I forgot to check this last night.

Are your DRLs Hologen or Xenon?
In my case, and I've got Halogen headlights, the only functionality I have lost is that my Halogen DRLs no longer work in the Auto mode which is a kind of a godsend in the summer months. SteveP is sorting a fix so that I can decide to have them on or off in the Auto mode by just using the indicator stalk trick!
My tail lights and all front lights are active in the dark when I open the car on the fob, so no change here from before.

I assume the DRL in my xenon headlight is just a halogen bulb.
I would like all lights to come on when I open the car regardless of it being dark or light, do you think this could be done?
I now just leave the lights turned on (fully clockwise) all the time which means I have the xenons and LED rears running all the time. Ideally I would like this to happen when the lights are on auto and have the DRL on too. I don't ask for much!

In daylight none of my lights come on except the puddle lights (I think. Will check) when I unlock the car. If I want all the lights on then I have to use the flash stalk inside. Works day or night. Fat lot of good is this! In darker lighting conditions all lights come on when the car is fob opened. These go off after 10 seconds. To re-activate all lights I use the flash stalk. The only thing that changed with the rear LED retro-fit was that my DRLs stopped working in 'auto' mode. However, if I now wish to switch the DRLs on manually, it affects the screen display on the sat nav when I have the sat nav on 'auto' illumination! Wot fun!

No, with factory Xenons you have the full Xenon dip beam on as the DRL.
There is no additional Halogen filament fitted for DRL.
The little sidelight thing must me a low wattage halogen though.

I'm happy with no rear lights on with/as DRLs as in bright sunlight people can confuse rear lights on with brake lights...iot's obvious when dark, but not so obvious in bright sun...so I'm happy.

It was that silly small sidelight I was talking about being halogen, sorry.
Maybe SteveP has an idea how to get this coded the way I want.

SteveP does probably know this for cars with Xenons. His GTi has bi-Xenons.
The problem of non-functioning DRLs at present is with the Halogens as headlights and I think he has a fix in the offing.

I forgot to check BYTE 11 BIT 2 to see if it was still set after the LED coding.
Just call up some time if you are in the area and we can give it another go..
-
I'm sure someone posted something similar a while back about Ross Tech stating that installing the rear LED's and changing certain bytes wasn't recommended at present as they are unclear what those actual bytes are used for!
I suppose its a small price to pay as the LED's look great.

^^^ Yep they did to start with and but is v10.6 of VCDS byte 18 is open again for coding and Dana has posted confirmation of selected configurations that work (mainly for NA cars) on vortex.
@ OP - Please post or PM me an autoscan of the car so I can take a look.
-
Mike, thanks for the offer, I will try to get up later this week.
SteveP, I will be in touch once I meet Mike and we get another look at the car.
Just for the record, my headlights and taillights come on when I open the car in the dark while on the auto setting.

I got my LEDs fitted today, thanks to Steve and Dave for sorting this out.
I coded Byte 18 as 0x15 and everything is working including the DRLs.. All fault codes clear.
I have Halogens and my car is MY10, built around February this year.
