I have noticed that the past week and a half i seem to have a slight miss on the engine for a short time after its first started. Im not sure it it lasts longer i must check but for the past 5 days this has been happenning.
Basically after you have started the car first thing in the morning or after leaving work at the end of the day.
You drive off in first then select 2nd and you can feel a very very slight engine miss as its accelerates.
A bit like if you were on a very slight ruff road.
Its very minor so im wondering if this is normal.

No one
I guess i may have a coil pack on the way out or dodgy Shell fuel then.

Sorry for the delayed response.
Tried in the morning to check this.
Went out for a drive now and just returned. Tried to replicate your problem. Don't think it happens to me. Will try again tomorrow and will give you a definitive answer.
-
Never noticed anything like that, sounds like a problem of some sort.
-
Snoops: Did this only start happening when you filled the car with a new tank of Shell fuel?
-
I first noticed it right near the end of the last tank that was V-power too from the same filling station and pump.

Hmm ... strange. Muck in the injectors?
Change the filling station, change the fuel? ....
Been for another run. Can now categorically say I cannot replicate your problem.

Thanks, I will see what its like this week. I gave it a bit of a blast on the way home yesterday so i hope its cleared anything. It could simply be damp i guess or just something right near the startup.
Its hard to tell its so light in the miss sometimes its hard to tell if its a miss or road surface.
Just the road out of work is fresh smooth as a .... tarmac so i know its a miss there, but the rest of the way the rest of the roads on the way home and round here are rough as so its not easy to tell. :undecided:
-
Just been for a spin just for you snoopy (not really) and i definatley don't have this mate.
-
Not had this recently but get it occasionally, usually clears by the end of my road. I know what you mean, it's the first time you put it into second gear and its as if the revs are slightly too low and it hesitates. Has happened around 5 or so times since I got the car a year ago

We dont have any ruff roads in north wales,so not sure if I could test mine for you - we have quite a
lot of rough roads though - will give it a try in the morning.

I had a problem with mine,if i was bombing along in 3rd or 4th gear and was sat at 4000-5000rpm for a short time when i then went to accelerate it would shudder or jolt it was very intermittent and never stored any faults when the dealers looked at it,touch wood its not done it for 4/5months now and seems to have cured its self.
-
I'm noticing this as well in 2nd and 3rd gears when the engine is cold and I'm being really gentle on the throttle. Feels like a very slight hesitation, then it goes, then the hesitation and so on.

Fortunately, mine seems fine ... I think.
-
Not had this problem.
Is it only when the engine is cold? Which petrol are you using?
-
Using std BP 95 RON. Been ok on this up till this week

No engine problems on mine runs like a dream :smug: Snoops sorry mate

Only problem with yours mate is that it sounds like a skeleton having a w@nk in a biscuit tin!
I'm probably making more of the very slight hesitation than it actually is. I doubt my wife would even notice it if she drove it, it's just that I pick these sort of things up too easily. After a couple of miles it's gone.

Hartside do one mate get outa here
-
Any missfire will be logged on the ecu. Just pull up a report.
-
Not a misfire, just very very slight hesitation. I'm wondering if it's not enough throttle and I'm just at the point of the throttle open/close and as the engine is cold it's more pronounced. I'm assuming the throttle is drive by wire and the system works from a control signal.
-
could be a sparkplug problem!!
-
Aye, was just reading your post and wondering the same thing! Is it a problem batch of spark plugs, or are they saying it a problem with engine or ignition circuit?

they just said it wasnt fueling properly.. on further inspection the plugs had a wierd coating/residue on them. usually found if dodgey fuel has been used. one of the plugs was even bent and incorrect distance from the spark bit (excuse my technical jarggon)
-
I have this on my Golf R. First thing in the morning, just a slight hesitation between gears. Feels like the engine dies a bit, I learch forwards a bit in the car and then the power comes back. Only happens when cold usually in the same place just up the road on the way to work. I'm not that worried about it. It's only happened 2 or 3 times, usually when I lift off at a certain rev to change gear.

Hartside, that's a great saying above. I've never heard of that one. People at work must think I'm mad, I've been sitting here at my desk laughing out loud
