Stupid question I know, but er goes................... :embarassed:
I need to purchase a new clay bar, and I've run out of detailing spray  What exactly does the Detailing Spray do that water doesn't? I mean, can't I just lube the clay bar up with water, and spray water onto the car surface to be clayed? :undecided:

A good cheap option for a clay lube is a weak solution of water and shampoo, spray onto the surface and you have yourself a cheap clay lube  Have I just done myself out of a sale?
The only clay bar that works with just water is the Bilt Hamber clay bar, all the others need a lube otherwise they will marr the surface.

I was going to suggest BH clay, very good stuff and as said only needs water as lube

i use dodo born slippy... its very good at lubing clay and comes concentrated
i decant it into a trigger spray bottle... I am also experimenting using it to prime pads when polishing

i have used the meguiars clay bar with just water. had no problems, just got to keep the surface well lubricanted
